Concept
The idea for this series emerged as a natural extension of the visual world from my short animated project, «BOLT.» During the story development process, the Mechanic developed a unique character—a serene, incredibly lucky hero who evades mortal threats with a little dance, often without even noticing them. Sun Wukong, the mischievous trickster, served as one of the inspirations for him. From this clear comparison, the concept was born: designing the Mechanic to embody the classic metaphor of the «Three Wise Monkeys.»
The essence of the collection centers on a singular form through which the character interacts with his gear—massive headphones and a protective mask—in varied ways. By covering his eyes, ears, or mouth with his hands, he mirrors the film’s central theme. The hero’s total isolation from the outside world acts as his unbreakable armor. It is this unwitting obliviousness that paradoxically saves him from a direct confrontation with monumental evil—the predatory Mutant, who stalks him through the bunker.
