Beacon: Collectible Toys

A series of collectible toys inspired by the film «Lighthouse.» From mythical creatures to the literal reality of the lighthouse keepers' daily lives—the lighthouse itself, and its native inhabitants like seagulls and other birds. Each object is reinterpreted as a compact, cartoonish 3D plastic figure.The series retains the film’s recognizable motifs—the isolated lighthouse, maritime mythology, and the seagull—but translates them from a realistic and somber aesthetic into a simpler form suitable for collection.All objects are executed in a unified style and designed for small collectible formats, up to 20 cm.

The core concept is to transform the film’s anxious and mystical imagery into collectible characters.The lighthouse is the setting and the primary symbol of isolation.
The mermaid represents maritime mythology, temptation, and fantasy.
The seagull symbolizes the sea, solitude, and simultaneously, an unsettling presence.Furthermore, these objects are not realistic models. They are designed using the principles of stylized toys: large, simple forms, minimal fine detail, rounded surfaces, and slightly exaggerated proportions. The toys are also colored in palettes consistent with the film’s aesthetic—black, white, and gray tones.

A realistic carved figure has been converted into a rounded, cartoonish plastic figurine with a large head, simplified face, and expressive scales.SeagullThe animal character of the series.The seagull is presented as a small plastic figurine on a separate stone base. The bird’s realistic features have been replaced with large, smooth shapes, simplified wings, and an expressive head.

The mermaid is crafted as a single, stylized plastic figure. The main focus is on the silhouette of the tail and the large decorative scales.

The material matches the main figure—black and white—but the accents on the toy evoke a sense of woodiness, similar to the original film.

The Gull is composed of two visual parts:

The bird’s shape is intentionally simplified: a large, rounded body, a small head, a pronounced beak, and stylized wings.

The entire series features a limited palette so that the toys are perceived as a cohesive collection. The palette is restricted to shades of black, white, and gray.
For all objects, we propose using matte plastic with a small number of glossy details.
