Concept
The project investigates the crisis of human control over the world through the total flattening of five domestic containers: buckets, toolboxes, cages, jerrycans, and mailboxes. The forced destruction of three-dimensionality turns the utilitarian form inside out, transforming metal into flat reliefs. Lacking physical void and practical function, these objects—in the logic of Jean Baudrillard’s philosophy—are reborn as pure signs. The series of objects captures humanity’s capitulation to the material environment, an environment it can no longer master.
