This print addresses the inhumanity of places like the zoo. For years, people repeat the same mistake—confining animals in cages, forcing them to depend on food, water, and the people who care for them. The narrative for this print is taken from a photograph captured during a visual study of the Leningrad Zoo—a dead mouse in an eagle’s enclosure. Regarding the history of the zoo, it is worth noting the period of the siege: at the start of the war, most animals were successfully moved outside the city, but large elephants and hippos remained within the zoo grounds. Following this, the enclosures, which seemed safe, became a «graveyard» for those who lived in them.
