Personal Computer

This series of paintings explores the issues and imperfections of memory through HTTP errors. It is a meditation on a personal psychological problem expressed through the comparison of a human being and a set of computer codes.

By treating the computer as a human—giving it the freedom to make mistakes and forget—its flaws inevitably emerge. Unlike a closed mind, which communicates errors indirectly, vaguely, and often fails to solve problems internally, a computer’s operational display acts as the brain’s projector. Bugs are reported openly, loudly, complete with pop-up windows and flashing lights. These can always be addressed on the spot. The sequence of errors is shown from the inside—the immediate code preceding the future pop-up window on the monitor. This is how a connection is established with the brain’s inner world and its processes before they are alerted.
