In Planetarium 1, a lecture was held on the philosophy of love and technology in «Chainsaw Man.»On September 28th, a lecture was held in Planetarium 1, presented by Mikhail Fedorchenko, a philosopher, cyberculture theorist, and web-samizdat editor. The topic of discussion was the philosophy of love and technology in the anime «Chainsaw Man.»During the lecture, «mechanical» and traumatic love were broken down into their constituent parts. The central discussion point was the relationship between the human, the demonic, and the technological within a single emotion. Attendees also learned how the themes of the anime echo philosophical concepts from the 20th and 21st centuries.«Human feelings—that is the key, the nucleus that triggers the entire complex system of demons in the anime…Their power is not absolute; it simply grows in proportion to the individual’s own fear, ” the lecturer noted. In such a world, love cannot exist in a vacuum. The lecture emphasized that this emotion in „Chainsaw Man“ is mutant. Its origin can be demonic, mechanical, or genuinely human.„In our time, the question of human relations with new technologies has become particularly acute. Will AI replace us? In what proportion will humanity coexist with innovation? Along with this, we must not forget that humanity is the creator of everything,“ Mikhail Fedorchenko shared his reflections.Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga „Chainsaw Man“ first appeared in 2018. The premiere of the first season of the anime, produced by MAPPA, occurred four years later. Subsequently, the work has been established as a global pop-culture phenomenon.
