Concept
«Frame from the East» is a media platform dedicated to contemporary Asian cinema. It helps viewers discover films from various Asian countries, unearthing interesting works beyond mainstream blockbusters, and developing a deeper understanding of cinematographic language. The project’s primary hub is a Telegram channel featuring curated recommendations, thematic selections, detailed scene analyses, and explanations of cultural context.

The media is aimed at people interested in cinema, but who do not necessarily possess specialized knowledge in film studies. The project is not striving to create another ranking of the best Asian films. Its goal is to make engaging with the cinema of different countries more understandable, exciting, and accessible.
Data sources for media
For materials preparation, we utilize open cinematic databases, specialized media, official sources, and audience submissions.
IMDb, Letterboxd, and KinoPoisk provide information on films, release dates, directors, actors, genres, and audience ratings.
Asian Movie Pulse and MUBI Notebook offer reviews, analytical articles, interviews, and materials detailing cinematic nuances.
Official film festival websites provide details on premieres, awards, and film participation in festival programs.
Interviews with directors and film crews supply information regarding the original concept, the creation process, and artistic decisions.
Media readers offer recommendations, feedback, questions, and suggestions for new publications.

Data Processing Diagram
Computer Processing
Machine processing is responsible for collecting, sorting, and storing data. Automated services help systematize film information, distribute it by country, year, and genre, identify duplicate entries, and generate draft summaries.
Human Processing
Human processing involves verifying information accuracy, editorial selection of films, analyzing visual language and cultural context, and writing and editing publications.
Database Structure
The main film database is created in Google Sheets or Airtable. A separate record is generated for each film with a uniform set of fields.
Core Data: film title, original title, year of release, country, director, actors, and genre.
Content Data: brief synopsis, main themes, visual characteristics, and cultural context.
Editorial Data: source links, editor comments, appropriate category, and publication status.
Factual information can be collected automatically, while content attributes and editorial decisions are added and verified by a person.

Guidelines for Automated Services
To organize media production, we utilize several services, each responsible for a specific stage of content preparation.
Google Sheets — functions as the repository for storing and systematizing the film database. A uniform entry format is used for all records to ensure the information remains structured and easily searchable.
Make — handles the automation of data transfer between services. It is used to migrate available information and update the database. Data transfer must include a validation check for record accuracy.
ChatGPT — assists with drafting initial content, summarizing texts, grouping information, and brainstorming ideas for publications. All facts, titles, and interpretations are thoroughly reviewed by an editor.
Telegram — serves as the primary platform for publishing materials and engaging with our audience. Every post undergoes a final review before being published.
Google Forms — is used to gather reader recommendations, feedback, and suggestions. The responses received help us discover new topics and shape future selections.
Automation Usage Guidelines
Automated services are used as supportive tools, not as independent media creators. All collected information is verified through reliable sources. While a neural network can assist with text preparation, it does not replace editorial analysis or an author’s perspective. When using images, copyright, distribution terms must be considered, and sources must be cited. All publications undergo manual approval before being posted. View statistics, reactions, and audience engagement are used to gauge interest in topics and to adjust the content plan.
General Operating Principle
Media production follows this sequence: gathering information from cinematic sources, automated sorting and data storage, editorial review, material preparation, publication on Telegram, and feedback analysis.
The main principle is to automate technical processes while keeping the human responsible for information accuracy, editorial judgment, and the creation of original content.
