Everything I publish stems from reality.

I don’t want to write about fashion as if it only exists in the latest seasonal collections. The Russian fashion press is disappearing. Magazines are closing, websites are moving and fading away. Everything that was written, conceived, and photographed for those pages remains…somewhere. This project is both an archive and a blog. The archive houses magazines, fashion books, covers, columns, editorial letters, and catalogs. In the blog, I (me): my perspective, my reading habits, and returns to past issues and texts.

I am not claiming objectivity. An archive without a human becomes a storage facility, and personal notes without an archive become mere opinion. I want to combine the two.

I view glossy magazines not as a record of the past’s advertising, but as a testament. What was considered beautiful, what was kept silent about, who was hailed as the hero of the season, and which words were trendy and which were awkward. A magazine page is also an observation—just one that belongs to someone else, one that was captured at that moment. Like a flashbulb freezing a specific instance. Before, discussions about fashion happened through staging: the perfect shot, the perfect copy, the perfect life behind it. I want to bridge that gap. I am interested in how people read it: what they cut out, what they shelved and tried to replicate, what they returned to, what seemed unattainable, and what they found funny. Twenty years from now, someone will want to understand how Russians thought about fashion. This archival blog, I hope, will be the guide.

Is printing disappearing?

Закрепите ключевую пользу и оставить опорную мысль
