WAM Анатомия
Учебное издательство Школы дизайна НИУ ВШЭ
In the WAM journal issue «Anatomy, ” illustrated treatises are presented, accompanied by a glossary of anatomical terms. Each treatise is supplemented with a brief historical note about the author and the anatomical work.
The goal of the redesign is to broaden the publication’s readership. We are moving from a collection of historical illustrations and treatises to a visually-documentary history of humanity’s relationship with the body and its perception.

Following the existing sequence («On Medical Art and Surgery, ” „On Methods of Protection Against Plague, ” „Field Book on Wound Treatment, „…), we propose conceptually expanding the anatomical publication to include: (1) medical testimonies (2) medical knowledge (3) philosophical conceptions of the human body from the 18th to the 20th centuries
How the body was represented, revealed, treated, measured, and learned to be seen from within.

The most mobile and fastest particles of this blood, which entered the brain via the arteries leaving the heart along the most direct paths, form a sort of finest air, or wind, called animal spirits.
For public spaces, the publication can become part of libraries, art and science museums, bookstores, concept stores, performance venues, and design studios.
Through the convergence of scientific and artistic approaches, the book can function both as an independent publication and as a tool for researching the visual culture of the body—complementing exhibition projects, educational programs, and interdisciplinary initiatives focused on embodiment and its representation in art.

«Instrumented Bodies» Project (original title—Instrumented Bodies: Digital Prostheses for Music and Dance Performance)
This publication is also designed for individual study: it can be used as a source of knowledge, visual material, and methods for conceptualizing embodied experience.

New Format
Binding 7BC
The increased number of stripes is due to the inclusion of additional material—texts and images—which can attract a wider audience to the publication and expand its public presence.
The proposed source for the additional material is the National Library of Medicine—a free online repository of the library’s resources, including books, images, and maps. All content in the digital collections is freely available worldwide and is in the public domain unless otherwise noted.
