Second Life is a media platform focusing on vintage, resale, and conscious clothing consumption.
1. Media Objective
The goal of the «Second Life» project is to show young people that a stylish wardrobe can be created without constantly purchasing new clothing. Many people buy items because of trends now, only to barely wear them later. Our media will show how to find interesting clothing in secondhand stores, upcycle old items, and adopt a more conscious approach to shopping.
We want to make conscious consumption more understandable and appealing—without complex terminology or moralizing, but through beautiful imagery and interesting discoveries.
2. Future Media Themes
«Second Life» will focus on vintage fashion, reselling, and clothing reuse.
The primary target audience for this project is young adults aged 18 to 30 who are interested in fashion but do not wish to constantly spend money on new items.
The media platform will feature selections of secondhand stores, tips for finding vintage clothing, tutorials on upcycling items, and examples of stylish looks on a small budget. We also plan to feature local brands that use old materials to create new collections. A dedicated segment will focus on clothing care to ensure beloved items last longer.
3. Competitors and Analysis
Three projects addressing similar themes were selected for analysis.
1. The Blueprint
Competitor 1, logo
Popular media covering fashion and culture. It features content on vintage, resale, sustainable fashion, and contemporary designers. Furthermore, the project encompasses the entire fashion industry, not just the reuse of clothing.
2. RBC Style
Competitor 2, logo
A publication focused on fashion and lifestyle. It features interviews with designers, content on upcycling, and features on vintage shops. The articles help introduce readers to the subject, but providing practical instructions for everyday wardrobes is not the publication’s main focus.
3. Assembler
Competitor 3, logo
An environmental project that addresses recycling, reusing items, and conscious consumption. While the project features helpful instructions and ecological initiatives, its primary focus is not on fashion or image creation.
Comparative Analysis
The table compares the main project directions and opportunities we plan to implement in our media.
Competitor Comparison Table
Based on our comparison, we decided to emphasize practical utility. Unlike broad fashion publications, «Second Life» will be entirely focused on how to repurpose clothing and find interesting items without significant expense. We aim to combine inspiration and personalized recommendations within a single media platform. This will be the core distinction of our project.
4. Distribution Channel
The website will serve as the primary media hub, publishing articles, vintage shop roundups, tutorials, and interactive content.
To promote the project, we plan to use Telegram and VKontakte. In Telegram, we will share short tips and links to new publications. On VKontakte, we will post photos of looks, videos of clothing alterations, and selections of items from thrift stores. This will allow users to discover the media through social networks and visit the website for more detailed information.
5. Target Audience Description
The primary audience for this project is young adults aged 18 to 30. They are interested in fashion, spend time on social media, and want to look stylish without unnecessary expense.
Four characters were developed for the project.
