UVL—a ceramic object based on the glyph «U» from the «Ledokol» typeface.
The name combines U—the initial letter, V—for vessel, and L—for «Icebreaker.»
From Letter to Subject
The form retains the glyph’s character, but in three dimensions, it acquires features of an icebreaker hull: massiveness, deck planes, slanted transitions, and a smooth rounding of the lower section. The interior space of the letter becomes the actual void of the vessel.
