Concept
A series of statement jewelry pieces inspired by the metaphor of Alice growing and shrinking in Lewis Carroll’s «Alice in Wonderland.» In the narrative, the heroine’s change in size disrupts the ordinary perception of the world, transforming mundane objects into something strange, disproportionate, and enigmatic.
In this collection, this idea is explored through the contrast of scales: one piece becomes deliberately enormous—almost exceeding the conventional idea of an accessory—while the other is its miniaturized counterpart.
Materials and Production
To facilitate mass production of the collection, the plan is to utilize pre-made jewelry chains, components for pins and rings, ribbons and bows, as well as decorative hardware. This approach will allow for the combination of standard elements with original decorative details, preserving the integrity of the design while streamlining the manufacturing process. This methodology will render the collection technologically viable, economically feasible, and suitable for series production.
Large elements can be molded using a prepared silicone mold from liquid polyurethane plastic. This material is ideal for mass-producing jewelry due to its fluidity, which allows for the absolute accurate replication of the finest detail in figures. Its main commercial advantage is rapid curing in 15–30 minutes, which enables the repeated use of the same silicone molds to produce high volumes. The finished pieces are monolithic, very durable, resistant to chipping when dropped, and easily drilled for findings or sanded. The plastic can be dyed either during mixing or externally with any paint, and launching such a series production does not require expensive industrial equipment.
