Concept
This academic year, I am working on my final project—the computer game «The Hush.» The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where, following a global catastrophe, civilization has fragmented into three factions: technocrats, heliophobes, and theonomists. The former rule the surface of the city, the latter reside underground, and the last are located deep within the desert.
Heliophobes are under the patronage of technocrats and form the primary workforce of the underground world. Their lives revolve around the mines and the extraction of resources necessary to sustain the city beneath the dome. Despite the harsh working conditions, the well-being of the privileged society on the surface largely depends on the heliophobes.

As part of our project development, my team and I plan to create a collection of physical 3D figurines featuring characters from the game. Each character possesses a unique appearance, personality, and plays a significant role in the storyline. Through the design of these collectible figures, we aim to reveal the specifics of life within different factions, their social standing, and their way of life.
The variety of characters, costumes, and color schemes will appeal to both game fans and designer toy collectors. We further plan to prepare models for 3D printing and launch them into production.
Character

The basis for creating the collectible 3D figure was the heliofobe—a member of the subterranean faction responsible for resource extraction. Its appearance reflects the harsh working conditions and the unique aspects of underground life.
The character is dressed in heavy workwear and protective gear. A gas mask shields him from the hazardous environment, a hard hat with a headlamp provides visibility in dark mines, and a pickaxe serves as the primary tool. The color palette is dominated by brown, graphite, and sand tones, which demonstrate the character’s connection to the subterranean world.
Series Development Principle and Color Palette
At the core of the series' development is the creation of a character collection belonging to the underground faction, united by a shared visual style but differentiated by specialization, equipment, and color palettes.
Based on the base heliofobe model, several character variations are planned for development.
First—the exploration miner, engaged in surveying subterranean territories, prospecting for deposits, and locating hidden passages. Second—the development miner, specializing in rock breaking, clearing obstructions, and constructing new tunnels. The blue color is associated with the exploration and surveying of subterranean territories, highlighting the specialization of exploration miners, whereas red symbolizes the physical labor, strength, and inherent danger of development miners' work.
Dimensions of the finished model:
Height: 20 cm
Width: 10.3 cm
Length: 10.1 cm
The 3D model constitutes a self-contained object that requires no additional assembly, fastening, or connection to other parts.
