The inspiration came from the dark of night, when the world falls silent and stars flare in the sky like bright lights. This evokes a sense of mystery—a sky that conceals an entire world.
The night is dramatic and mysterious, yet it is in this darkness that the sense of wonder is born. It is this contrast between silence and brilliance that inspired me.
The image formed in my mind: a starry sky and a hidden sun. The black knit fabric with lurex resembles the night sky, and the spherical shape references the sun—which is hidden at night but continues to shine, veiled by the stars.
The chains dangling from the bag reflect the cycle, the circular motion, and glitter in the light like stars at night. They create a dynamic reminiscent of a carousel dance, reminding us that even in the fastest movement, one can find a point of stability. I wanted to create a vibrant accessory without overdoing the decoration. Therefore, I chose a thin chain with small beads—it is noticeable enough, but it does not overwhelm the look or compete with the fabric’s own radiance.
Materials and Technique
To ensure the bag maintains its shape even when empty, I layered all the pattern pieces with thin foam. This allowed me to stabilize the desired form while keeping the weight down.
A drawstring closure was added to the top of the bag, through which a thin satin cord is threaded.
