We are a workshop where teens aged 13–17 explore various ways to work with materials for creative purposes through thematic project cycles. A space where creativity is not rigidly focused on a specific professional future.
In this era of global change and digitalization, we all feel vulnerable: we are increasingly drawn toward the tangible and the material. Thus, humanity returns to the present; manual labor and creativity help us feel grounded—the reality of right here, right now.
Kids and young adults feel this pressure particularly acutely—they must not only discover the present moment but also begin to build their future brick by brick: deciding where to apply and what to do with their lives.
Our workshop focuses on kids—designers, artists, architects, art researchers, curators, and other visual culture specialists.
Teens need a sense of authorial subjectivity, creative realization, and freedom.
But why specifically the «juncture»?
Most existing alternatives are built around systematic artistic education and pre-professional training. However, for a teen who wants to create, explore their interests, and find their own way of self-expression, a purely academic approach may not be enough—or it may not be what they need at all.
«Styk» offers a different format: creative practice without the need to pre-define your future. The program takes into account the characteristics of adolescence: the need for independence, freedom of choice, and the opportunity to experiment with new things without constant pressure for results.
In one month, a participant masters two techniques, limited only by the monthly theme, and creates two original projects. This allowsthem not to focus solely on one piece, and not to compare themselves to others, experiment with materials, and gain exposure to various creative industry fields through personal experience. This pace frees the child from the internal pressure to make everything perfect, which positively affects their psychological well-being.
