He put on his trousers, casually draping a jacket over his shoulders. He stood in the doorway, leaned against the doorframe, lifted one leg, and lowered his arms to tie the wax-coated laces. He regained his balance, tied the laces, got dressed, and left. But he continued to wait.

A furnished protagonist, he is indistinguishable from the static doorframe he leans against. He is frozen in an everyday posture that connects stopping on the street with pausing before leaving. This stillness is difficult to erase from any lived day. A static micro-scene—tying waxed lamp wicks, preparing to depart.

The core elements of deceleration within the invented universe—such as the waxen skin of the sculpture and the oil lamp wicks instead of shoelaces—are central to the work.
The pose is dictated by an everyday situation, one that repeats endlessly both within the domestic sphere and in the external environment.
Untied shoelaces force a pause.
The object—its placement within the doorway—obstructs the viewer’s movement.
The moment of the sculpture’s dehumanization can only occur after the viewer refuses to wait.
