Soviet animation is widely considered to be primarily aimed at a young audience. However, those who grew up watching these cartoons now have their own children and grandchildren. This book offers an excellent opportunity to build connections across generations.
Analysis of the Original Edition
The publication features portraits and biographies of the directors, behind-the-scenes stills, and working materials from their animated films, as well as sketches that often defined the future look of the movie.

This publication is based on a chronological narrative of significant animated films and their directors, spanning from 1912 to 2005—nearly a century of animation history and development.
Create a new reading scenario
The redesign of the book «Our Cartoons» is primarily intended to adapt the old edition for shared viewing and reading between adults and children.
First, we see spreads featuring the portrait of the author-animator and their quote as the main element. Here, you can also read the hero’s biography.
Most frames from animated films are given a full spread so they can be viewed in detail. The vibrant imagery and characters will engage a child, giving them reason to ask curious questions.
Beside the large film still, there is text about the creator’s work or a specific film. This text is intended for adults. While the child is looking at the image, the adult can return to familiar characters and tell them about them.
Book implementation option
The book, as a gift edition, is offered for sale in a gift box or with an interactive element cover. The book can be sold as a standalone edition or as a gift set that includes a character toy.
Book availability
The most suitable places right now are the Soyuzmultpark stores in Moscow and Kazan. Additionally, the book could be featured in art bookshops, children’s stores, or general bookstores with a broad selection in the children’s, art, or collector’s book sections. Selling the book at animation festivals would also be a relevant strategy.
