SS27 Collection Concept

The Skirt as Object
The skirt as an item of clothing. In the Prada Spring-Summer 2027 collection, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons place special emphasis on studying this singular, universal garment through diverse variations. The skirt, conceived for freedom, is an obsessive idea for Prada. Its clear, graphic silhouette—linear and modernist—is simultaneously independent and interdependent with other garments, offering a unified, fixed parameter for embodying ideas. The collection remains within the language of forms inherent to this skirt, functioning as an exercise in exploring rigid parameters.
Idea Development
The core idea is transforming the mundane into the exceptional.

The concept is rooted in the aspiration to reveal the richness of textures and the high level of craftsmanship in material work through meticulous detailing. The inspiration comes from the artistic method of Domenico Noli, who transformed everyday details—fabric folds, seams, buttons, and textures—into independent works of art by greatly magnifying their scale. The Prada SS27 collection pays special attention to the skirt as a standalone object, focusing on its complex texture, decorative finishing, and material tactility. The window displays continue this idea: enlarged, almost abstract representations of textures become artistic installations for the skirts themselves, allowing viewers to see anew details that are usually overlooked.
