As part of my thesis project, I am focusing on promoting the artist Anonymous Ember. His visual language is built upon a fusion of anime aesthetics, early computer game visuals, and Web 2.0 visual culture.
At the core of the tapestry concept lies the phenomenon of pareidolia—a visual or auditory illusion where the brain transforms random, inanimate, or abstract objects into recognizable images.
This is not uncommon in children, when examining the patterns of rugs, they saw entire worlds instead of just threads. However, it is harder to imagine that today.
The tapestry acts as a material conduit into the artist’s strange universe—through the texture, the pixelation of the woven cloth, and the optical blending of colored threads.
