[1] Project Concept
The lenticular postcard is based on an interactive longread about the Peter and Paul Fortress, which presents its history through the interface of an antivirus program. When the postcard is tilted, an archival photograph transitions to a digital image of the fortress in scanning mode. This shift reflects the evolution of its function—from a defensive structure and political prison to a modern museum.
[2] Selected Effect

For the postcard, a lenticular effect is chosen to switch between two images. As the viewing angle changes, an archival photograph of the Petropavlovsk Fortress transforms into a digital model complete with antiviral system interface elements. This allows the viewer to interact with the image physically, repeating the principle of state switching from the long-form article.
[3] Sequence of Shots
The first frame presents a historical image of the fortress through archival photography. In the second, the architecture is translated into line art and becomes the subject of a digital scan. Both images retain a unified composition, which creates an effect of transformation of one object when the postcard is tilted.
[4] Back side
The reverse side continues the visual language of the long-form article. Information blocks are designed as system notifications, and an archival photograph is used as part of the interface. The composition merges a brief historical overview of the fortress with space for a personal message.
[5] Animation Preview
A short animation demonstrates the transition between 20 postcard states. An archival photograph switches to a digital scan, illustrating the principle of lenticular printing. The preview allows users to see the intended effect before a physical copy is produced.
[6] Production Files
The postcard is prepared in a vertical A5 format with 5 mm bleeds. The 20 front-side frames are created in RGB with the Adobe RGB (1998) profile, and the back side is prepared in CMYK. Separate files are provided for each frame and the reverse side for production, in addition to the editable Adobe Illustrator source file.
