Travel Talks Series Launched in Mayakovsky Library in English
At the Mayakovsky Library, traveler and ICF Coach Regina Mishchenko hosted the inaugural meeting of the Travel Talks series. For an hour and a half, participants engaged in English conversation about psychology, travel, decision-making, self-confidence, and cultural differences.
Mishchenko had previously hosted meetings, but this was the first time she had focused on travel or utilized the Travel Talks format. The event was structured as an open discussion where every attendee could share their views on the topic. The host shared stories from her journeys, while participants practiced conversational English. Complex themes such as «the influence of environment on our decisions» and «the reasons for forming our beliefs» within the context of travel were discussed.
«I have wanted to create my own authorial project for a long time. I constantly travel and work with people, and I wanted to structure all of that into a space where people could communicate in English, because we often lack practice and some kind of safe, comfortable place where we can just talk without feeling like we are doing something wrong, ” Mishchenko explained.
According to the host, the idea for her own format came to her while preparing for exams. „I was studying for exams and attended an English school that had various discussion clubs. I realized that it wasn’t quite right for me, so I decided to create my own, ” she clarified.
