This news item was prepared for the seminar «Information Sources in Media Communication.» It covers the final of the national IT Championship, which involved 130 young developers. The material introduces readers to challenges in autonomous transportation, intelligent transportation systems, and the digitalization of road infrastructure, and also names the winning teams.
130 young developers competed for victory in the final of the IT championship «Digital Era of Transport.»
The annual all-Russian IT Championship, «Digital Era of Transport,» concluded in Moscow. In the finals, 130 young developers from universities, colleges, and educational institutions across the country competed for victory in categories related to the digitalization of transport. The winning teams came from MITIS, College of Automation and Information Technology No. 20, Moscow School No. 444, and the Ulyanovsk State Technical University. According to the organizers, participants could win valuable prizes, as well as invitations for internships or employment with leading companies and relevant government agencies.
Organizers reported that participants tackled practical challenges in the fields of autonomous transport, intelligent transport systems, and the digitalization of road infrastructure. The final stage was held as part of the forum and exhibition, «Intelligent Transport Systems of Russia.»
As shared with the «Digital Era of Transport» Association, participants were presented with four case studies in 2026. Each of the four tasks demanded «not just technical skills, but systemic thinking and the ability to operate in conditions of uncertainty.»
One of the challenges was the case study, «Autonomous Corridor Without Room for Error,» developed by FSUE «ZashchitaInfoTrans.» University students were required to design a control system for an autonomous transport corridor under conditions of incomplete and contradictory data. The system needed to analyze information from vehicles, road sensors, meteorological stations, and other sources, identify unreliable data, and select a safe course of action: continue moving, reduce speed, change route, or connect with a remote operator. The winning team was MISIS x MISIS from MITIS.
The «Smart Waterway» case required the creation of an intelligent transport system for small vessels. This system needed to track vessel movement in real time, help prevent collisions, manage queues at locks, and map routes while considering water depth and weather conditions. The winning team was KAIT 20 from College of Automation and Information Technologies No. 20.
For students, we prepared the «Voice from the Cabin» case. Participants were tasked with creating a web portal where passengers of autonomous transport could rate their trips, leave reviews, and vote on suggestions from other users. The winning team was MVP from Moscow School No. 444, which included 11th-grade students.
Another challenge was the development of an intelligent control system for a regulated pedestrian crossing equipped with a call box. According to the organizers, instead of fixed traffic light cycles, the system was supposed to use real-time video analytics to recognize traffic participants. The winning team was robolife-flash from Ulyanovsk State Technical University.
The competition proceeded in several stages. Organizers reported that teams initially received the cases in an online format and began development, after which they presented preliminary solutions. The final defense took place at the forum venue, where projects were evaluated by an expert jury. This jury included representatives from FAU «ROSDORNII,» LLC «Smart Si,» the «Digital Era of Transport» Association, FSUE «ZashchitaInfoTrans,» and other organizations.
The championship was organized by the «Digital Era of Transport» Association. Since 2021, the co-organizer has been the State Unitary Enterprise «ZashchitaInfoTrans.» The championship was held for the first time in 2017.

News Hook: The focus is on 130 young developers and the specific challenges they addressed for the transport industry. This approach allows us to showcase not only the fact that the championship took place, but also the content of the participants' projects.
