Neon Embroidery
I want to retain the feeling of the red thread with which I manually embroidered a word onto a banner grid, but replace it with light.
Rather than correcting all imperfections, I want to make them part of the artistic intention. The neon should look as if the lines were first drawn or embroidered by hand, and then transformed into light.
The project explores the metamorphosis of a familiar, material gesture into a luminous image. The core of the composition is the geometric inscription «AWARE!» (ОСОЗНАЙ!), which recalls a word embroidered with red thread onto fabric.The light line preserves the distinctive characteristics of handwork: slight deviations from straight lines, asymmetry, and breaks. These imperfections become part of the object’s artistic language.The red thread transforms into neon, and the handcrafted inscription becomes a luminous call to action. To read the word, the viewer must recognize the letters among abstract geometric shapes. In this way, the act of reading itself becomes an act of awareness.

Why NEON2? • Thin line. The letters should look as if they were embroidered with a red thread. The 6 mm width of NEON2 allows you to achieve this effect. • Complex geometry. The letters feature short segments, intersections, and minor breaks. • Intentional imperfection. NEON2 allows for the precise reproduction of subtle deviations of the line from perfect geometry. • Repairability. Unlike standard flexible LED neon, the LED strip in NEON2 can be replaced.

Why clear acrylic? • It barely distracts from the lettering. • It provides a rigid surface for mounting. • It allows the composition to retain an airy quality.
