The elevator is the central theme of my diploma animation. In «Factory, ” I decided to transform it into a tapestry.
What does the tapestry look like?
Size 146×204 cm, vertical orientation. The fabric is jacquard weave with cotton yarn.
The tapestry depicts the metallic surface of an elevator: light and color shimmer across it, shifting from bright white highlights to deep emerald, gray, yellow, and violet.
This is a gradient, but because the loom operates with six threads (four colored, one black, and one white), the smooth transition on the fabric is achieved through their combination, which is why it doesn’t look the same as it does on screen. Instead of a perfectly smooth fill, a vibrant texture emerges—and this even suits metal: the highlights and tones seem to shimmer, looking different up close versus from a distance.
Where will it look good?
A large 146×204 cm tapestry, and since it’s for an elevator, there’s room to play with the placement.
Placing such a «lift» in crowded areas—in my opinion—is a cool advertising campaign, a kind of poster for an animated project.
