LIGHTCODE '26
LightCode — a festival centered around a light path featuring installations that reflect the cultural, geographical, and historical characteristics of the location.
This year, the festival reinterprets the territory of the paper mill in Paleh. We take the raw texture of the industrial space and infuse it with a «code”—digital art, light design, and meaning.

Special Program '26—this is a shortened illuminated path for students of the Palekh Art College and special guests, designed to promote the idea of the Lightcode Festival at the venue.
The Idea of a Light Pathway — light belongs to no one singularly—it endures as long as people create something together. The Firebird cannot shine by itself; people ignite it, and it radiates light back to them.
Light Path Scenario
— Gates
Guests enter the Paleh Park territory through gates draped with translucent fabric, which are encircled by glowing boulders. They are met by guides who lead them deeper into the grounds, where the first chapter of the audio performance begins. This chapter introduces the premise of the story that guests are about to experience.
— A Journey Across the Field
Walking across the field toward the factory’s main building, visitors complete the first task of the route. They collect fragments of an ancient password—a key that will open the factory’s treasure chest. The fragments are scattered across the entire field, and they must be gathered and assembled into a phrase.— Coffered Hall
The guests approach the main building. To enter the coffered hall, they must recite the password they composed. When they speak the keyword, the linen factory’s casket lights up—all the installations inside (except for the Firebird) come to life. The group enters the coffered hall and listens to the second chapter of the audio play. Here, some find the Firebird’s feathers—an artifact that will help them assist the Firebird and complete their journey.

— The Red Bridge
On the Red Bridge, the third chapter of the audio play plays, where artists and festival organizers discuss light and what it means to them. This episode serves as a transition to the climax of the route—a meeting with the spirit of the firebird.— The Grand Hall
This is the culmination of the journey. In the Grand Hall, a fading firebird hovers; its soul wanders among the walls, trying to find its lost light. Here, the performative dance of the firebird’s soul takes place. After dancing, it leads the group into the Small Hall and disappears.

— Small Hall
In the small hall, there is the installation «In Search of Gold.» Guests are invited to illuminate the hall’s walls, searching for traces of a light that was once lost. They interact with the installation and receive a second artifact—a glowing part of a feather. By connecting the two pieces, they will be able to restore the fiery bird’s plumage and its light.— Return to the Grand Hall
Guests return to the Grand Hall, where the spirit of the Firebird awaits them. The guests attach feathers to its long tail, it performs a ritualistic dance, and comes to life. The spirit returns to its body (the «Firebird» installation), and the installation in the hall lights up with a brilliant orange glow.— Bonfire
At the end, the guests gather around the bonfire, where they can warm up with hot drinks and snacks while watching a promotional video about the upcoming spring festival.Guide Costume
