«Anlak» is a short, authorial animated film.
In the fish that saves a drowning child, something human awakens. With every new rescue, she transforms into a humanoid mermaid. But one day, she meets a person who constantly tries to drown again.

This story is not a fairy tale; it is about a bitter, unsettling, and eerie situation into which the characters are thrown. The film is based on a widely known behavioral pattern—the savior complex. In this case, the «savior» attempts to connect with someone who cannot be saved, which traumatizes both parties and leads to a tragic conclusion.

Mermaid Design
The design of the mermaid does not conform to stereotypes of the mythical creature—that of a beautiful girl with a fish tail. I aimed to retain piscine features when creating this new mermaid image, making it unpleasant and off-putting.
