The starting point for the GLARE project was geolocation—the «Yar» restaurant, a hub of festivities and indulgence in the early 20th century. People spent fortunes just to feel, for a moment, elevated, brighter, more noticeable; smashing dishes conspicuously was considered a special form of luxury. However, beneath the ostentatious splendor lay a dependency on recognition and a gradual loss of self. The idea behind GLARE embodies the flip side of «glamour"—the shine of evening revelry that masks inner emptiness. The smashed dishes, the cyclical, party-like repetitions, and the contrasting textures.
