Shelving «Blue Abyss», Torgashina Ksenia Aleksandrovna

By combining recycling (papier-mâché) and upcycling (the shelving frame is based on a Soviet hanging book shelf) in object design, I create functional and stylish furniture, combining resource conservation and a responsible attitude towards the environment.

Description from the author: In the Gelendzhik region there are many rocks with a small content of limestone, this is why they have a characteristic white appearance and against the backdrop of the azure sea, an amazing, most picturesque bay, the «Blue Abyss», looks like. I conveyed my love for black nature through paper made from it with durable stone. The arched shape of the shelving resembles a cross-section of mountains that can only be seen from the sea.

The target audience is aesthetes, lovers of beauty and interior designers looking for stylish and spatial solutions that correspond to a modern aesthetic and environmental approach.

Technique: papier-mâché Material: natural frame, cardboard, texture paint, varnish, oiled legs.
