Concept
The diary connects the designer’s daily routine with creative practice.
A designer exists between two poles: structure and creativity. Structure encompasses deadlines, briefs, grids, and rules. Creativity involves searching, experimenting, and developing a personal voice. While these are often viewed as opposites, in reality, they rely on each other: without structure, creativity dissolves, and without creativity, structure devolves into mere routine.
The diary is built upon this connection. The schedule and deadlines provide the framework, while the weekly pictogram reminds us that the framework itself is the material for play. Rules, constraints, and grids don’t impede invention—they suggest where to begin.
