Logline
Two failed friends come to an adventurer’s guild for an interview, but Vint decides to rob the imposing guild master. Instead of a job, the friends end up in a chase, arrested, and owing triple the amount they stole.
World
Eastern Europe, early 2000s. A meteorite fell from the sky, bringing a disease that caused people to mutate: some changed slightly, while others gained powerful abilities, such as fire manipulation. Raised on fantasy culture, people began to perceive all of this as magic and start role-playing it. The old government fell, and in its place rose fantasy factions, among which neutrality is barely holding on.
Synopsis
Mac and Vince decide to join an adventurer’s guild to pay off their debts. However, Vince has no intention of working honestly and decides to rob the local mercenaries. It turns out he’s robbing no one less than the deputy head of the guild—the formidable half-dragon Andragon, who has little patience for misconduct.Mac, completely unaware of the theft, gets dragged into the chase. The friends try to escape and even run to the police for help, but they are caught there: the police chief turns out to be Andragon’s father. Instead of punishment, however, the heroes are offered the chance to work off triple the stolen amount under slave conditions. This way, the friends do end up getting jobs in the guild.
Characters
Mac is a kind, naive, and somewhat foolish fire mage, yet he is incredibly talented. He is accustomed to solving problems only through force, and he is extremely embarrassed by his mutation. Throughout the story, he learns to solve problems not just with fire, and he stops being ashamed of himself.
Vint is a frail, egotistical, yet cunning kleptomaniac mechanic. He despises mages because he himself lacks abilities, even though his only friend is a mage. Throughout the story, he grows up and begins to truly value friendship.
Andragon—a fire-breathing half-dragon and formidable guild leader of adventurers—runs an underground business and smuggling operations. Once marginalized, he now wields significant power within his circles.
