The concept of agoraphobia—the fear of open spaces and situations involving exiting one’s familiar, safe environment—formed the foundation of this project. This concept guided the work: nature in the project is viewed as a tool for calming and a means of protection from the hustle of city life—a space where one can feel calmer and more secure. The ultimate goal was to create a cocoon-like shelter that uses its form and the tactile sensations of its texture to maintain this sense of security and help create distance from the urban environment.
