Berdyansk—a city in the southern Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
As a settlement, it was founded in the not-so-distant year of 1827. Initially, the settlement was named Novonogaisk, and later it was renamed Berdy. This latter name stuck in honor of the Berda River, whose mouth was where the village was established.
