… association with early spring and the painting «The Rooks Have Come Back» by Russian artist Alexei Savrasov…

The main star of this interior is the panoramic view, which changes the perception of the space entirely depending on the time of day and weather. At times, it’s veiled in a cold shroud of low-hanging clouds; on other days, the space «melts» in the rays of bright sunlight and fills with the colors of an azure-blue sky.

This changeability led us to an association with early spring and the painting «The Rooks Have Come Back» by Russian artist Alexei Savrasov.

That’s how the concept came to be built on reflective mirror surfaces reminiscent of icy stillness, various geometric lines resembling the bare branches of still-dormant trees, and touches of the Russian landscape, which later found their way into the décor. In the living room, the eye is drawn to the structural columns, which we decided to «hide» by covering them in mirrors and wrapping them in metallic mesh. This distorts the reflection, imitating the ripple of melting spring puddles.

As the backdrop for the concept, we chose neutral tones and forms that wouldn’t draw attention away from the core ideas. A particularly interesting «bonus challenge» was the client’s request to incorporate several pieces of furniture from leading global brands that they already owned — to give them a second life in the new interior while maintaining the overall aesthetic.
