The «Eyes of the Mariinsky Theatre» zine is a design project based on interviews with Lyubov Isaeva, the artistic director’s operator at the Mariinsky Theatre, Valery Gergiev.
It is a story about an invisible profession: Lyubov knows where the maestro is at any moment, yet she remains in the shadows. She is not in the programs or at the curtain calls. There are only dozens of monitors, a cup of coffee, night shifts, and the responsibility for the person who sets the rhythm for the entire theatre.
Task: To visually narrate Lyubov Isaeva’s story through design and layout.
What was done: Conducted an interview with Lyubov Isaeva, the operator for Maestro Gergiev, developed a zine concept, and laid out five spreads.
