The photo project was created as part of the homework assignment for the course «Fundamentals of Photography and Graphic Design.» The starting point was the theme of surgical alteration of appearance and the human drive to change oneself according to preconceived notions of beauty.
Through imagery of bandages, plastic film, dolls, and mannequins, the project explores the boundary between naturalness and artificial transformation. The work with texture, color, and composition helps convey a sense of vulnerability and alienation, while also posing the question of where personal desire to change one’s appearance ends and the influence of imposed aesthetic ideals begins.
