Overview of the Campus Area

The area under consideration is located in the South Port district of Moscow, adjacent to the Moskva River waterfront and the former industrial zone of the South Port. The 2nd South Port Drive has historically been linked to the development of the district’s port and industrial functions. Currently, the area is undergoing transformation: former industrial plots are being considered for comprehensive development, including the creation of new public spaces, residential buildings, infrastructure, and embankment landscaping. The main potential of this area lies in its ability to transform a former industrial zone into a modern urban space for recreation, walking, and cultural activities by the water.

Historical Context

The area of the 2nd South Port Passage is located in the southeastern part of Moscow, in the South Port area, near the Kozhukhov Bay of the Moskva River and the Southern River Port. The passage itself was formed in 1955 and was named for its proximity to port infrastructure. The main characteristic of the area is that its development occurred not as a typical residential neighborhood, but as an industrial and transport hub. Today, the area is in a transition phase from an industrial zone to a multi-functional urban environment. Historically, three main layers formed here:
Natural and River Layer
Industrial and Port Layer
Residential and Urban Layer
