«In Exchange» is a mobile application concept designed to find substitutes for familiar products. It helps users select a similar option when their preferred item is out of stock and understand the differences before purchasing.

When your go-to cottage cheese isn’t on the shelf, choosing an alternative becomes a gamble: packaging and fat content say little about taste or texture. Even high ratings don’t explain how closely a product matches your favorite.

The product is designed as an application where users can save their favorite items, photograph potential replacements, and compare ingredients, characteristics, and reviews. Taste and texture ratings are based on the experiences of people who have tried both products.

«Compare with what you already like»

Solution: The application allows you to save favorite products and use them as a reference point when making a selection. You photograph an available product, confirm its name, and then select the product you wish to compare it to. The app displays the differences in specifications and customer reviews from people familiar with both items. This makes it clearer what to expect from a replacement.

How it works: «From an empty shelf to a clear choice»

1. Find your favorite cottage cheese in the app or select it from your saved items.
2. Take a picture of another cottage cheese in the store.
3. View the comparison: fat content, ingredients, price per 100 grams, and ratings for taste and texture.
4. Decide if the differences suit your needs.

For example, the comparison might show: «The same fat content, but a grainier texture. Customers who have tried both products describe this one as less sour.»

After purchasing, you can add your own comparison and help the next person with their choice.

Project creator is me, and the images were generated using an AI network. The inspiration was the Vivino app, which provides ratings and reviews for a wine label from a photograph—this principle is at the core of the «In Exchange» concept.
