«Out of Frame» is a sculptural phone case developed as part of the Radishchev Museum shop collection.
Concept
The cover reinterprets the traditional artistic frame, transforming its decorative elements into a three-dimensional bas-relief. This familiar accessory becomes an independent work of art, bringing museum aesthetics into everyday life.

The concept for the case originated from studying the decorative frames of antique paintings. Their intricate ornaments, curves, and volumetric elements became the foundation for the accessory’s form. In this project, the traditional frame is reinterpreted and transcends its conventional function, transforming into a sculptural everyday object.

Connection to the Thesis Project
The thesis project focuses on branding the Radishchev Museum and developing novel ways to engage with the audience. One direction explored is a museum shop featuring unique, everyday objects inspired by art. The case study develops this idea by reinterpreting the decorative frame and transforming it into a modern accessory.

Technical Specifications
Material: Polyurethane elastomer with colored pigment addition
Manufacturing Process: Casting into silicone molds
First, a 3D model of the case, featuring a volumetric ornament inspired by picture frames, is created. A master model is then produced using SLA printing technology, which is sanded and polished until glossy.
A silicone mold is taken from the master model, into which the pigmented polyurethane is poured. The color is formed directly within the material mass, and the glossy surface is reproduced through the smoothness of the mold.
The design includes a recess for the smartphone, protective bumpers, side buttons, and necessary cutouts. The technology is designed for small-batch production.
