Zine «Crown of Nature»
«The Zenith of Nature"—a zine comprising 12 illustrations on the theme «Pure Fantasy,» depicting animals participating in a masquerade ball. They prepare, sew costumes, and dance, but at the climax, it is revealed that they have all decided to wear human masks, heightening the artifice and falseness of the event.
Idea References.
This is a form of satire on human society: people view themselves as the pinnacle of nature, when in reality, animals feel not a single ounce of positive emotion toward us. With this zine, I want to showcase the paradox of our world: humans are accustomed to believing they are the apex of evolution, endowed with limitless power. But in fact, animals despise us.
Technical References
I chose high-contrast, black-and-white graphics based on engravings. Furthermore, this technique emphasizes the contrast of the zine’s subject matter.
