An outdoor permanent exhibition, «Dvinsk Way: The Origins of Maritime Russia, ” has opened at the Krasnaya Pristan in Arkhangelsk. The event is part of the program celebrating the 85th anniversary of the arrival of the first Union convoy, the „Dervish,“ in Arkhangelsk. Supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the project offers a fresh perspective on the city’s history.

All the graphic images for the «handmade» project were created by renowned St. Petersburg artists and museum designers Maria Piir and Nikita SAZONOV, a recipient of the Russian Presidential Award.
«For both me and Maria, this work became an opportunity to discover something new, something truly meaningful—a part of our country’s history and culture. It is amazing how all accumulated knowledge seems to converge at one point—in Arkhangelsk, ” noted Nikita Sazonov. „Beyond immersing ourselves in the history of the North and Arkhangelsk, the project not only allowed us to refine existing skills, including working with analog augmented reality, but also to focus on the most important thing—preserving historical authenticity.“

The past seems to come alive in the triptychs: they capture authentic historical events that once took place right in this spot. We see the wooden Kremlin that once graced the city, Peter the Great’s first visit to Arkhangelsk, and the moment the Russian tricolor was born. Incidentally, this specific scene stands out among the others as the only colored accent. The historical panorama is further completed by depictions of Northern fishing trades and frames from the expedition aboard the icebreaker «Alexander Sibiryakov.»
