Paris, 1923. Fernand Léger created stage designs for Darius Milhaud’s play, «The Creation of the World.» In this work, Léger brought to the stage not just scenery, but painting as an entity itself: three gods from an African creation myth—Nzame, Medere, and N’Kava—rendered as three flat, colored bodies observing the birth of flora and fauna in a unified dance.
These posters were created by me for a museum dedicated to an artist. The LEGER Triptych—a series of jacquard tapestries inspired by the scenography of Fernand Léger.
