We are conditioned to perceive material objects—especially those that are hard, heavy, and technically complex—as permanent and reliable. They become a kind of foundation, lending a sense of security and control over one’s life. However, beneath this outward durability lies their vulnerability: things break, they wear out, they lose value, and they require constant reinvestment. What seemed stable proves to be constantly elusive.
In my work, I explore the ephemerality of the material through the tension between the conventional perception of an object and its physical embodiment. I create a car as a soft, fragile, and conditional construction. The object is the silhouette of a car made from synthapone. Its form is assembled from soft textile fragments, connected with open hand stitches.
