The «Panzhara» lamp is a fusion of traditional Uzbek decorative and applied arts with contemporary modular design. It is crafted from plywood as a flat set of parts that the buyer can assemble independently into a complete fixture without glue. The main elements are filigree pieces featuring ornamental patterns that form the lamp’s volumetric body.
Uzbek ornaments represent a rich cultural heritage, reflecting the history, traditions, and worldview of the people. They combine geometric forms, stylized plant motifs, and zoomorphic elements, each potentially carrying a specific symbolic meaning.
The panjara is a prominent feature in Uzbek architecture—an intricate decorative lattice traditionally crafted from wood or metal. It was used to adorn windows and doorways, as well as to screen balconies and covered terraces. Beyond its decorative function, the panjara served a practical purpose: it protected the interiors from direct sunlight, allowed diffused light to pass through, and created a striking play of light and shadow.
