Создание своей концепции кафе с помощю ArchiCad, Часть 2

Короткий курс

This course focuses on developing a conceptual café project using ArchiCad.

What is this course about?

What is a café? It is more than just a room with tables and chairs; it is a destination for relaxation, work, and enjoyment. Therefore, even a small café requires thoughtful planning, functional connections, and a distinctive interior design.

In this course, the participant uses Archicad skills not merely to replicate an existing space, but to create their own project. This process spans from the initial zoning and organizing visitor and staff flows, through layout, 3D modeling, materials, furniture, and lighting. Here, Archicad becomes a tool for design exploration as much as for modeling. Every decision can be tested in plan, section, and 3D, gradually transforming the idea of a personal café into a cohesive architectural space.

This course is dedicated to developing a complete café project in Archicad. Participants receive an initial PDF drawing of the café and, based on it, create a digital model of the space while simultaneously developing a full set of architectural documentation.

During the process, participants create floor plans, sections, elevations, and other necessary drawings, working with architectural elements and interior design. Based on the single digital model, 3D representations of the space and visualizations are automatically generated. Special attention is paid to the interior design; if time and performance allow, participants select furniture, materials, lighting, and other elements to form a cohesive image of the café.

Thus, the participant completes the entire design cycle—from the initial technical drawing to a finished architectural project for the café, complete with documentation, a 3D model, and visualizations.

Final product: a complete café project in Archicad (including a set of technical drawings, 3D model, visualizations, furniture, materials, and primary interior elements).

Who is this course for?

This course is beneficial for: — students in architecture and design majors, aspiring architects and designers who want to master ArchiCAD as a tool for creating and presenting complete architectural projects.

Course Duration: 7 weeks
Contact Hours:
56 academic hours.
Classes are held in an online format.

Course Prerequisites:For this course, participants must have basic proficiency in Archicad, including an understanding of the interface, navigation, fundamental architectural tools, and the principles of 3D modeling. Basic computer skills and access to the necessary software are also required.Prior experience with technical drawings and an understanding of architectural or interior design fundamentals would be an advantage, allowing for a quicker transition to independent work on the cafe project.

What will first-year students learn?

During this course, students will learn to:— Analyze the core functional requirements for a small cafe space and define the necessary zones and usage scenarios — Develop a floor plan solution for the cafe, considering functional relationships, visitor, and staff flow — Create and detail a digital model of the cafe in ArchiCAD based on the developed floor plan — Formulate the interior design solution by selecting materials, furniture, lighting elements, and other spatial components — Present a complete cafe design using floor plans, 3D models, visualizations, and technical drawings

What practical assignments will first-year students complete?

Throughout the course, students will complete the following assignments:— Analysis of the functional structure of a small cafe, including the development of a zone layout and usage scenarios — Cafe floor plans that account for functional connections and the flow of visitors and staff — 3D model of the cafe in ArchiCAD based on the developed layout — Development of an interior design concept through the selection of furniture, materials, lighting, and other spatial elements — Final presentation of the cafe project: layout, blueprints, 3D model, and visualizations

Thematic Lesson Plan

INITIAL CAFÉ PROJECT ANALYSIS — analysis of the technical specification and the source PDF drawing — café functional zones — space usage scenarios — visitor and staff flow analysis — existing layout analysisPractical Work: The participant analyzes the initial café drawing, defines the primary functional areas, the entrance group, the guest area, the kitchen, restrooms, and service rooms. A diagram of functional relationships and main flows is developed. Homework: Study the source project and prepare a functional zoning scheme. Identify the main elements that need to be transferred into the digital model.CREATING THE CAFÉ MODEL IN ARCHICAD — scale and precise dimensions — walls, floors, and levels — windows, doors, and other openings — architectural elements — building the space volumePractical Work: The participant imports the source PDF drawing into Archicad and creates the primary architectural model of the café. The 3D model is verified against the source dimensions and drawings.Homework: Complete the architectural shell of the café, verify the dimensions, and add all primary architectural elements.CAFÉ LAYOUT AND ORGANIZATION — functional zoning — placement of the kitchen and equipment — guest area and seating arrangements — restrooms and service rooms — visitor and staff routesPractical Work: The participant organizes the café space according to its functions and usage scenarios. Furniture, equipment, and primary interior elements are placed, checking for ease of movement and the relationship between zones.Homework: Finalize the café layout, furniture, and equipment placement. Check pathways, distances, and the interrelation of the main functional zones.

INTERIOR DEVELOPMENT AND DETAILING — wall elevations — materials and surfaces — furniture and interior elements — lighting — details and fixturesPractice: The student designs a cafe interior, focusing on materials, furniture, lighting, and decorative elements. They create the main wall elevations based on a digital model.Homework: Finalize the interior elevations and detailing. Prepare a selection of furniture, materials, lighting, and other elements for the final project.TECHNICAL DRAWINGS SET — plans with dimensions and notations — furniture and equipment layouts — floor and ceiling plans — sections — elevations — drawing formatting and compositionPractice: The student compiles the primary set of construction documentation for the cafe based on a unified BIM model. They verify the consistency of the plans, sections, and elevations.Homework: Complete the set of technical drawings and ensure all views correspond to the unified 3D model. The student integrates all project results into a single cafe proposal, verifying the consistency between the drawings, the 3D model, and the visualizations.FINAL CAFE PROJECT — digital model review — technical drawings set — furniture and specifications — 3D model — visualizations — project formatting and presentationPractice: Prepare the final project package for presentation, and present it if desired.
