CONCEPT
Shakespeare’s «The Tempest» has been staged and rewritten so many times that it has become a cultural monument, constantly being «restored» in different ways and balancing between preservation and revision. The idea of restoration perfectly aligns with the play’s meaning: the process of reconstruction becomes a metaphor for the journey from revenge to forgiveness.

moodboard
As part of the practical work tied to my final project (Thesis), I decided to work on interpreting classic elements of Shakespearean-era costume (16th–early 17th centuries).
FIRST PIECE
The first stage of the practicum involved studying classic silhouettes and details of 16th-century historical costume, as well as designing and sewing a classic 16th-century corset.

SECOND ITEM
The second phase of the project involved searching for and analyzing contemporary interpretations of details from Shakespearean costuming in fashion. Haute couture examples served as inspiration for my original design. The theme of restoration, derived from costume concepts, was also the basis for my Final Course Work.
