Sculptors always manage to convey the plasticity and softness of the human body through hard materials. Yet, we always understand that it is stone or, for example, metal. I decided to create a statue of a person that is not initially hard, but soft—or rather, inflatable—and paint it white to imitate plaster. My work combines not only a play with materials but also a reinterpretation of the beauty and sexuality of the female form in sculpture.
In ancient times, people would sometimes even fall in love with statues; it was always perceived as something elevated and beautiful. But once you change the form of the human figure and imitate the hardness of the material, that beauty vanishes somewhere, leaving only a purely sexual undertone.
