The Gateway to Russia (G2R) platform publishes a monthly vocabulary series for its Russian language course. When I joined the design team I was tasked with redesigning the series.
My primary objectives were to modernize the illustrations, then enhance the experience with detailed motion graphics.

Key Detail Changes Made in the Update
June, 2026
Compared to the older versions from 2024, I decided to use a more vibrant and cohesive color palette to give the series a stronger visual identity.The consistent use of color helped unify the theme while making the content more engaging and memorable.
I decided to use a children book aesthetic to modernize the artwork, incorporating hand-painted gouache textures and softer organic shapes.This made the artwork feel engaging, playful, and expressive.
Motion graphics became the defining element for this redesign.The animation guides the viewer’s attention to the key action or object, enaging learners on 3 main levels: visual, listening, and writing.
