Studio ROUGH creates art objects from metal. In our work, we strive to reveal the aesthetics of flaw and the mundane. All our pieces are imbued with the idea of deconstructivism: visual complexity, angularity, and fragmentation.
Transformer Core | 2026 Steel, aluminum 30×30×0.5 cm.
Old Soviet transformers contained laminated cores made of metal sheets shaped like the letters «E» and «Sh.» In the 1990s, people dismantled electronics en masse to sell for colored metals; the copper from the windings was sold, and the thin iron electrical sheets were unwanted by anyone and were thrown away. The value does not reside in the object itself—only in the person who assigns it significance.
