PRE-DESIGN ANALYSIS
The site is a complex orographic system with a southwest exposure, where unique scenic potential and high insolation conflict with aggressive environmental factors. The steep terrain, composed of unstable volcanic soils, is susceptible to active wind and water erosion due to the lack of organized drainage. The area’s architectural character is marked by spontaneity and deep morphological imbalance. Fine-grained private development clashes visually with large volumes of Soviet panel buildings and the utilitarian port zone. The dominant «architecture of solid fences» transforms the street network into hostile transit corridors, blocking visual connections and depriving the district of public spaces, which effectively nullifies its unique landscape potential.

PROJECT GOAL
To develop standard solutions for complex topography, and to derive core principles applicable to this specific site for future expansion and application on other areas with challenging terrain.
