About the Subject
The settlement of Novostroyka, from which the modern Peresvet grew, was established in 1948. Its creation was directly linked to the establishment of a testing ground. The territory was not chosen arbitrarily: it was located in the Sergiyev Posad district of the Moscow Oblast, approximately 17 kilometers from Sergiyev Posad, and was characterized by its distance from the capital, dense forests, suitable topography, and the presence of a body of water. It was here that the work unfolded that would determine the fate of the domestic rocket and space industry. The abandoned NIIKhimmaSh building is also located here.

Research Institute of Chemical Engineering —
An enterprise of the rocketry and space industry that played a vital role in the development of the city of Peresvet. The Institute specialized in the testing and ground validation of rocket engines, spacecraft, and other complex machinery.

Today, the abandoned site is known among researchers of industrial facilities under the unofficial name «USSR Flying Saucer.» This name refers to the massive concrete base of a rocket engine test stand, whose outline resembles the silhouette of a flying saucer.
The grounds host four large buildings. Although the main structures were completed, the internal equipment was never installed. Consequently, the rooms remained empty, and over time, they accumulated trash and graffiti. The double fencing, the preserved insulators with remnants of barbed wire, and the overgrown checkpoint line all serve as reminders of the site’s former restricted status.
One of the most recognized elements is the concrete structure of the test stand, which resembles a flying saucer. In 2004, the scrubber tower, which was part of the gas purification complex, was demolished. Following its collapse, large concrete and metal fragments remained.
Where the tower once stood, there is another unfinished building, which is presumably intended for observing the tests.
